The fight card announcement for the March 27th K-1 WORLD MAX 2010 ~-70kg Japan Tournament~ is finally here.

In the Japan tournament fights 2009 WORLD MAX semifinalist Yuya Yamamoto will take on HINATA, undefeated 2009 Krush 70kg tournament winner Hiroki Nakajima will battle TATSUJI, veteran Taishin Kohiruimaki will fight cosplayer Yuichiro “Jienotsu” Nagashima, and Yasuhiro Kido will take on second geneation RISE -70kg champion RYUJI.

In the superfights of the card, 2009 WORLD MAX champion Giorgio Petrosyan will face Yoshihiro Sato, crazy boxer Kazuhisa Watanabe will battle DREAM veteran DJ.taiki in a 63 kg fight, and 2008 RISING ROOKIES CUP 60kg winner Kosuke Komiyama will fight the returning TAKE HERO Murahama (the guy KID KO’d in MAX and almost stepped on the head of after he downed him) in another 63 kg fight.

Update: K-1 will start a 63 kg with this event and they want to hold a 16-man tournament for Japanese fighters this year. The opener for that is planned to be held in May and the two 63kg superfights on this card are kind of preliminaries (skirmish) for that. 2011 could be the start of a world tournament for the new 63kg class.

in the cheering section for:

DJ.taiki
TATSUJI
murahama

dj spent a lot of time in thailand training for this fight, so i expect him to win it. plus he's not afraid to throw tons of kicks including many lowkicks and i think that plus his reach (and good striking/chin in general) will get him the win over watanabe. it's too bad though because i want to see watanabe get some wins as well.

TATSUJI i'm not expecting to win the tournament since he's disappointed me in the past, but i'm a bigger fan of his than any of the other guys in the tournament (kido is close though) and i'd like to see him win.

and how can you not root for murahama?

The HINATA/Yamamoto and Kido/RYUJI fights are brutal. If Kohiruimaki doesn't fight like a total idiot he can beat Nagashima in the first round and if Nakajima sticks to his game he shouldn't struggle with TATSUJI either.

He's also competed in NJKF before and did well. He's definitely the right kind of opponent for Watanabe to face off against. Fighters like Atsushi with no kickboxing fundamentals are nothing to him and fighters like Uematsu and Cheon are too much at this point in time - Taiki is somewhere in between.

Word, but people don't seem to know about his history as much as they probably should. He made his name in Shootboxing and was one of the best Japanese featherweight kickboxers out there and the fact he won the first and only K-1 featherweight championship by beating Kensaku Maeda proved he could hang with those outside the SB circuit.

All those years wasted as a bloated pro-rassler and K-1 MAX fighter were bound to backfire though.

I'll have to disagree, I think Watanabe will land lots of hands on Taiki and win a decision. The kicks could be a problem for sure though. I'm also very bias to guys who are good boxers, good boxing is probably my favorite thing to watch in any combat sport. So I am partial to Watanabe, plus Watanabe is a crazy fuck, so I'll be rooting for him. (Not that DJ isnt a crazy fuck) Cool

I think it all depends on whether Watanabe cares about winning this one. He would be 3-0 if he cared as much about winning as he did about squeezing 12 rounds worth of entertainment into a 3-round fight. Good to hear dj.taiki has been training hard for this, I don't want this to be totally one-sided, and I feel like Watanabe would destroy just about any MMA fighter who didn't seriously train for him. As unorthodox as Watanabe is, his power and handspeed are ridiculous and his style is impetuous.

I'd just like to say how shit this even was!

Jienotsu is a fucking joke, no other way for a fighter to become famouse or noticed in Japan these days other then be a fucking wackjob, I mean, acting like Watanabe is cool, hes pretty funny to the public, but Jienotsu.. Fucking joke to have him reign where great people such as Masato once stood.
He is even a fairly decent fighter, straight KO victories, surely he could have chosen a different front.

To those of you that don't understand Japanese, Jienotsu said in his finnishing speach that he can't be like Masato but he will try hard to represent and keep that spot, kinda like saying I will try my best to be a good person in this spot. Again, a joke, he dresses in Cosplay and then sais that.

what's wrong with being a cosplayer it isn't like FEG is going to force everybody to do it like they did with that metrosexual shit.
