2009 SENGOKU Featherweight GP participant Chan Sung Jung will face former Lumpinee welterweight champion and 2002 Asian Games gold medalist in Sanda, Pajonsuk S.K.V, at Itās Showtime: Prague (click here for the card) on February 13th. This will be Jungās first kickboxing match in 2 years, and he is regarded by many (including himself) as a heavy underdog. āI decided to take the offer because I figured it would help me a great deal. Everyone is expecting me to lose because of the caliber of my opponent, but no matter how good my opponent is I wonāt fight with the āI-have-nothing-to-loseā mentality. Iām going to come back with the W.ā said Jung regarding his upcoming return to the kickboxing ring.
The Korean Zombie himself confirmed this report on a popular Korean MMA forum. He wanted to make it clear that he wasnāt offered the fight in favor of the more experienced Korean kickboxers and that he jumped at the opportunity because most top Korean kickboxers who were offered the fight first had to decline because of the upcoming K-1 MAX event in Korea. He explained that an experience in such a big venue with fighters like Badr Hari in it and the fact that it would hone his striking skills made it an easy decision. He also said that he wouldnāt have sought the fight had it been offered to other kickboxers (perhaps because he didnāt want to āstealā the fight from them).
Lastly, he said that he expects some good news in March or April, which heās excited about. Stay tuned for an update as Iām sure heāll let the fans know once itās confirmed. ā (Thanks to mdhan for the article)

| All I ask is that Pajonsuk doesn't take Jung's head off. |

| What will the rules be? K-1? MT? Because if it's MT he's going to get f'd up, if it's K-1 then that limits Pajunsuk's skills (I don't know him but I'm assuming as a thai MT practitioner his main weapons would be limited by K-1 rules a la Buakaw) |

Probably K-1 rules, most It's Showtime fights are usually K- 1 rules. Even so, Jung's defense is not great and Pajonsuk would win under either rules I think, Will be rooting for Jung to somehow win though. |

Yeah I'd love to see Jung win, but I think a ringlight would have to fall on Pajonsuk in order for that to happen. |

| tough, tough fight for CSJ. Don't count him out however, he has some good power on his punches and he definitely has a chin worthy of Pajunsuk |

| Jung was DQ'ed for KO'ing Pajonsuk with a spinning back fist lol. Just read a thread someone posted on K-1Fans. |

I googled "chan sung jung" and pajonsuk with only results in the last 24 hours, and one translated page referred to spinning backfist as "banned technique", how lame is that? |

| K-1 rules prohibit Spinning back fists, It's Showtime uses K-1 rules. |

| Not exactly, you can throw spinning back fists (or "back blows") in Japan or rather K-1 events held in Japan. It's Showtime has their own rules, even though they're based on K-1 rules. It's Showtime brought over their rules to Prague - in The Netherlands spinning back fists are prohibited for the sole reason they can cause cuts by inadvertently ending up as spinning back elbows.
Seems like Jung was outmatched, still if the fight took place outside of Europe he'd probably have a KO victory over Pajunsuk on his record. |

I did not know that info, thanks. I thought spinning back fists were illegal and just one of the less "enforced" rules of K-1, just like the one knee from clinch rule kind of is. |
